Process stage 1: Material feeding

Material is usually fed into the recycling plant directly from vacuum/flushing vehicles. Feeding via bucket wheel loaders or conveyor belts is also possible.

A distinction is made between direct and indirect material feeding. In direct material feeding, the material is fed directly into the recycling plant via the feed hopper.
In indirect material feeding, the material first enters a dosing buffer. From this buffer, the material is continuously fed into the recycling plant. This ensures a consistently high quality of the recycled material, regardless of the feed quantity and feed rate.

The dosing buffer enables rapid material feeding, thereby reducing waiting and downtime.

Process stage 2: Material recycling

The recycling plant is the central component of the recycling system. It processes sewage sludge, drilling mud, street sweepings, grit trap sludge and other mineral waste using a wet mechanical process.

Once the material has been fed into the washing chamber, a rotating spiral conveys it through a water bath. During this process, the material is separated. At the same time, water flows through the washing chamber in a counter-current flow. This washes out unwanted components, which are then discharged together with the excess process water.

The washed mineral material >250 µm is removed from the washing chamber via a bucket elevator and fed to the spiral conveyor. This conveyor partially dewatered the material and discharges it.
The resulting process water is either further treated (e.g. chamber filter press, centrifuge) or discharged following analysis and approval.

To further reduce the proportion of minerals ≤250 µm in the process water, the process water is fed into the fine-particle separation stage in the next step.

Here, the mineral components >63 µm are separated, along with suspended solids and impurities.

This process not only recovers additional minerals but also reduces the amount of precipitants and flocculants required for the treatment and recovery of the water.

From the fine particle separation stage, the remaining process water containing minerals ≤63 µm is fed into an agitated tank.

The intermittent operation of the agitators in the agitator tank prevents the mineral components contained in the process water from settling.
In the next step, the process water is fed from this agitator tank into either a chamber filter press or a centrifuge. To this end, the process water is conditioned by the addition of precipitants and flocculants.
In the chamber filter press / centrifuge, the solids are separated and discharged into a container.
The resulting water (chamber filter press: filtrate / centrifuge: centrate) enters a buffer tank and is reused in the recycling process at the recycling plant. Excess water is discharged.
